Professional Bulletin Boards

As I work through my grad school work, some of my intern hours have been spent on creating professional bulletin boards.

This board was created for our lounge.  Each grade level would post exemplar work for their grade level.  Teachers also had room to leave sticky notes about classroom observations and experiences.

This board was created for our administration building.  We do 'Author Studies' across grade levels and this is our response to literature unit over our various authors.

Math Game Storage

I have tried many different ways to organize math games and pencil boxes are definitely the easiest and most convenient!  Each game is divided up into pencil boxes and inside the pencil boxes the game pieces are in plastic baggies.

Birthday Balloon Surprises!

Each year I try to do something small for my fifth graders on their birthday. I found this cute balloon design from Brooke Hilderbrand. Check out more from Brooke at Once Upon a First Grade Adventure.

Math Lab

This section of my room is dedicated to our "Math Lab", a place for students to have lots of interactions with different games, books, vocabulary, etc. all about math!  As the year progresses, I will move more games and literature out.  Having these games out and available will remind them and myself of all of the things we have.  

Share Chair

Our "Share Chair" is used weekly for students who are sharing their work, writing, or book recommendations.  Students sign up for a slot to share their work each week.  This puts sharing back into the hands of the child.  

At first, my shy students do not volunteer, then they allow me or other students to share their work, but by the end of the year everyone is sharing proudly.  It is a great way to build community in the classroom.  

Easy Erasers

Do your students use several tissues to wipe off their white boards? An easy solution to give students an eraser at their seat... pom-poms!

I hot glued pom-poms to the top of dry erase marker for students to have easy access to erasers and my tissues weren't wasted. Easy and cheap solution!

Cereal Box Creativity

I have so many different boxes and folders to organize my classroom, but making them personalized for my classroom brings that extra piece to the room.  For this project, I just used cereal boxes and a wheat thin box.

I first put duct tape at the bottom of the boxes to secure the boxes.  Then I just used scrapbook paper to wrap the boxes. 

I think these boxes will look great in the classroom!
